The teacher interacts in a professional, effective manner with colleagues, parents, and other members of the community to support students’ learning and well-being.



     Partnerships and community support are very important aspects for a teacher to display in and outside of the classroom. Within this standard, I include examples of these characteristics. Within standard X I have included an essay concerning one of Caldwell High’s school board meetings in Spring 2010. This was a really interesting topic for me to investigate, and I was even more interested in the aspects that were brought up at the meeting. I feel that it is important for teachers to attend as many of these as possible in order to fully understand what is occurring within their district, or school, and what changes they may have to face in the future—especially since education is not receiving the federal funding it deserves. This assignment, and the fact that I went to the meeting shows my attitude and concerns in connection with the Canyon County school district. If I were to have not attended this meeting, I don't think I would have felt as comfortable addressing issues within the district, since I wouldn’t have had the background knowledge.
